Classes

Infant Room: Our infant room has been designed to be efficient, clean, safe and nurturing. Toys are cleaned daily, and changing table is sterilized after each use. Additionally, as an added health precaution, street shoes are not permitted in the infant room. Each child has their own personal cubby, and sleep area. Age-appropriate toys promote play that is based on exploration, sensory materials, and stimulation. Music is played throughout the day. A small class size allows teachers to nurture the children and devote one-on-one attention to them. Infants are cuddled with and rocked in the glider, read to, and will feel loved.  A daily log is maintained to highlight the day’s events and distributed to parents upon pick up. Parents are encouraged to call to see how their child’s day is going.

Young Toddlers: Our young toddler classroom hosts children ages 1 through 2 years old. A toddler is naturally curious, and we strive to offer an environment that satisfies this curiosity! A variety of developmentally appropriate toys, coupled with loving, encouraging staff members, provides all toddlers the independence they are demonstrating more and more of every day! Music is played throughout the day, and quality picture books are used to enhance the ever-growing language development of these young minds.  Children are given plenty of opportunities to put things together, take them apart, build, construct, and of course, knock down their constructions! The outdoor play area features a section specifically for the young toddlers where they can release energy and explore their world while gulping in the fresh air. Starting Line Day Care and Learning Center recognizes that all children develop at different rates, therefore, we focus daily on the subjects your child expresses interest.   As the children accomplish numerous tasks throughout the day, they are praised for the efforts. We truly believe that when a child’s effort is recognized, her or she will be eager to continue this effort, which is the starting line for a life long learner. Most importantly we ensure the environment is safe and the children are loved. We want our warm, friendly, safe setting to feel like your child’s home away from home. Older Toddlers: Our older toddlers (2-3 years old) are curious learners and growing more and more independent every day.  Through developmentally appropriate toys, books, music, and dramatic play, this curiosity and independence is stimulated.  Toddlers spend time investigating their world, manipulating sensory objects, and flipping through their favorite book while they “read” the pictures to a friend. Potty training begins in the older toddler classroom.   When each child begins to show signs of readiness, the teacher will collaborate with the parents to develop a plan that is consistent, rewarding, and efficient.  The warmth, encouragement, patience, and experience of our staff are the ingredients to help children reach this milestone, along with many others. Pre-school: Pre-school children are continuing to grow more and more independent each day. The classroom is packed with challenging toys that will stimulate the growth they need as they prepare for kindergarten. They use blocks and manipulative to learn counting and other math skills. Be on the lookout for “Eagles math” during football season and watch your pre-school child learn how to compare numbers, interpret, and read a bar graph! Early literacy skills are taught such as rhyming words, letter recognition, and the left to right motion of reading. A comfortable, quiet area of the classroom is set up for the children to have quiet time while flipping through their favorite books. Art projects are done to promote creativity, and displayed to help the children feel proud of their creations. Musical instruments are available for the children to form marching bands and drum along with the beat playing over the CD player. Through modeling, role-playing, books, and examples, children are taught to care about themselves and each other.
